Senior Class Honored This Weekend
Columbus, OH - The Ohio State University women’s club ice hockey team
will be honoring its senior class this Saturday
during the first game (Feb. 9th) versus Liberty.
The Senior Day ceremony will begin at 5:15pm
with the puck drop following at 5:30pm at the OSU Ice Rink. The seniors recognized this
year at the ceremony will be
Taylor
Davidson and
Liz Gelber.
To find out what the seniors were thinking about
Senior Day, Natalie Kalasky (former teammate)
conducted interviews with each of the seniors.
Interview
with Taylor Davidson
Taylor
Davidson is a senior defender majoring in both
international business and marketing with minors in
both French and Spanish. A true southern belle
turned buckeye, Taylor calls Louisville (pronounced
loavul), KY home. In her words, Louisville is the
“home of the Louisville Slugger and the Kentucky
Derby, if you haven't gone, you should because
Louisville is fabulous.”
Taylor chose to attend OSU because
the university provided every opportunity that she
needed in an educational institution. Her favorite
aspect of playing club hockey is “playing against
Michigan, seeing all your friends and family there
to cheer you on.” She has many memorable moments
with the team and says “I can't pick just one
because the entire experience has been incredible,
but I do love the life long friends I have made and
the memories we'll have!”
Taylor’s words of wisdom for future
members of the team are “PROFITER DE LA VIE! It
means make the most of life. Your time will go by
faster than you think so make the most of the times
with your teammates and playing for THE Ohio State
University.” Her plans for next year include moving
off campus with friends, working & attending school
part-time and last but not least, getting a puppy.
Interview with
Liz Gelber
Liz Gelber
is a senior goaltender majoring in industrial and
systems engineering. Hailing from Seaford, NY Liz
describes her hometown as “on the south side of Long
Island about 10 minutes from the beach and has the
best bagels, pizza, ice cream and Chinese food
ever.”
She chose OSU because it has a great engineering
department, not as much cobblestone as Purdue, and
better dorms. She was also attracted to the
university because most of her family went here. Liz
says her favorite aspect of hockey “is being able to
be nimble and graceful in forty pounds of equipment
on a sheet of ice and still accomplish a given
task.” Her most memorable moment with the team is
playing on the playground near Lake Superior during
the team’s annual trip to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula
to play Northern Michigan University.
Liz’s advice for future members of the club is “We
are 100% on wins when leading at the end of the
third; don’t screw that up.” After graduation, Liz
will move to Baltimore, Maryland and work at
Northrop Grumman as an industrial engineer.
